St. Martin was absolutely beautiful.  We stayed in the Beachside Villas - they're these great vacation properties right along Simpson Bay with EVERYTHING you need.  We had silverware & cookware, a maid to tidy the rooms & make the bed, and the ocean right outside.  We had air conditioning, but it was nicer to just open the doors and enjoy the breeze.
Every day we would wake up and make ourselves a great breakfast, and eat outside on the patio.  Then we would go swimming in the pool or hit the town for some shopping.  We went to Phillipsburg a couple times - they have great jewelry there!  Mike got a Rolex as a late wedding gift & I got two pairs of diamond earrings.  We got tons of souvenirs for our family and friends from the outside vendors.  Phillipsburg had the only Taco Bell on the island and you know that Mikey had to have some.

Every night we went out to a wonderful dinner.  Each restaurant seemed better than the night before.  We had lobster, steak, crab and all kinds of island favorites.  Here's the picture of the 4lb lobster we mentioned in our Christmas newsletter - I made the waiter hold him up because I was too scared!  Our favorite restaurants were on the French side, but the Dutch side had some tasty food too.  Everywhere we went had a perfect view too.  It was like we were in a postcard.

One day we took out a sea-doo in the bay.  It was fun to drive along the coast and see all the vacation homes and pretty scenery.  Mike & I saw quite a few abandoned houses from the hurricanes in years past and thought it would be fun to buy a property there and fix it up.  Maybe someday.  Mike really liked the expensive condos on the French side too - conveniently located near the nude beach.  Yes, we went there; no, I'm not including THAT picture :)  It was interesting to say the least.
Then there were the casinos.  On our first night we went to the Dolphin casino, but we soon discovered the one right around our corner was our favorite.  We won quite a bit of money our first night there playing craps.  Some of the other vacationers in our villas took over a table with us and we had a great time.  We nicknamed them the Georgia peaches, because they were so fun and they were all on a reunion from GA.  We didn't gamble every night though!  We went on a sunset dinner cruise one evening and watched the lights of Margot.  Every day was a day to remember.
